The Sims Craze

Something has been keeping me locked and still in front of my computer for the past week. As in I’ve been missing meals, forgetting to do my homework, failing to do my duties, etc. etc. etc. I’m so hooked up with
The Sims that I could almost forget about everything. It’s really my kind of game coz I’ve always enjoyed dollhouses since I was a kid. I started out with a single white female (not from
that movie) living in a bungalow and I made her meet up with this single guy. After some days in their Sims world, they got married and now they have a son and they moved in a larger house. I could spend the whole day making them move around the house, buying new furnitures, making them learn new stuff, meeting them with other Sims people, making renovations, etc. It's really a lot of fun. But now I feel guilty because I have not accomplished anything, as in I just read only a few pages about blood vessels in Robbins. That’s it. I’m so taken away by the The Sims that I’ve forgotten about my own real world. Well, I need an escape sometimes.

As one of my favorite medical professors put it,
it’s really difficult to talk to someone about changing his ways when that person is so convinced that he is thinking right and he’s actually doing what’s best for everyone. And sometimes, you need to let that person catch that bitter wind of failure just to make her realize that he’s actually wrong. Of course, that was very difficult for me to accept. I mean, when that person is so wrong, as in he is insanely ruining people’s lives (including mine) just to live up with his so-not-applicable principles, someone has to do the correction. I wouldn't just sit here and wait for this person to completely mess up. I can’t wait for that time when everything has been irreversibly damaged and when it would finally sink into his lame system. This is my future we’re talking about here. And I can’t let other people make a trial-and-error experiment on it. And so far, this person (with his gang: one that looks like a member of
The Triad and th other one that looks like a bouncer) has been so successful in making a myriad of errors. I just can’t wait for something huge to happen. Something must be done immediately to stop this insanity. As in right now. Calling all the members of Anakbayan and Bayan Muna! Mike Enriquez!!! Erwin Tulfo!!! Hello?!!

New Start

Second semester had finally begun. The first week was very difficult for me. It was an everyday struggle to wake up early. During the semestral break, I got used to rising from my bed at around 10 in the morning. But now, I have to resist the comfort of my bed and the coldness of the early morn (in the tune of Jingle bells: Christmas na, Christmas na, Christmas na naman!). I tried different strategies like setting 3 different alarms inside my room, putting an alarm clock inside my cabinet (so that I’ll be forced to stand up, walk some distance, open my cabinet, turn the alarm off…then find myself in my bed again some seconds later), and asking my boyfriend to call me up and wake me (which is not so effective because I go back to sleep just right after hanging the phone). So little success. As a result, I always find it hard to get an fx because most of them are full by the time they pass in front of our village. And only because I don’t like riding a bus (its nauseating air inside plus the people crowding around me are so suffocating), I walk about 1 kilometer hoping to get a ride. But most of the time, whenever I reach the area where the fx’s are just starting to load passengers, there’s none of them to be found because all of them are already on their way to Lawton. In the end, I dejectedly ride a bus.
I was also busy doing drafts for research proposals. I’ve enjoyed searching for journals although it’s very time consuming. It makes me reminisce those college days again, when we used to feed on journals and books to survive. Now, in medical school, I don’t only need to feed on books, I have to devour them.
By the way, my sister-in-law sent me some pictures of my nephew. His name is Nathan Karl and he is soooo cute! (makes me realize how superior our family’s genes are…haha!)

Anyway, a lot of things happened in school lately. I guess we’ve been keeping our silence for so long now. Maybe now is the time for some action. I’ll just keep my eyes and ears open.

Something I just read

I thought that I was the only one who had been quite apathetic about all the riots and demonstrations back in college. Not that I don't have any political stand on university or national issues, but it's just that I'm not the type who would ditch my classes just to go wild with the crowd in front of the Supreme Court. Pardon me if you happened to be one of these people who march their way to Mendiola. I have nothing against you. It's just me. Anyway, I saw this article in Peyups, I just thought to share it with you...

I’m really tired…this FCM sucks the life out of me. We were walking endlessly in circles in our own designated barangay yesterday. Actually, it’s the same barangay we worked in last summer and I even helped make a spot map of it. But we still got lost. Why wouldn’t we? The houses look the same, the streets look the same, and the people everywhere look the same. No remarkable landmarks whatsoever. My legs really hurt.

Newsflash of my visit to my boyfriend’s house:
- His mom and relatives are warm and friendly people.
- I ate 3 plates of rice!
- I ate a lot of Menudo.
- We watched Samurai X.
- Me and Marty had a bonding moment. (Marty is their pet dog)
- I ate more spaghetti.
In short, I had a splendid afternoon with his family.

I knew it

Faerie:Faeries are sweet loving beings who love to help
people. They are not held back by reality and
love to dream and fly around. You probably are
very creative and although not the most popular
person in the world you are probably loved by
many for your sweet caring personality.

Getting fidgety

Trick or Treat, anyone?! I was left alone in the house today (*wink*) while my folks went to visit my dead relatives. I swore yesterday that I'm really gonna study, but as expected, another day of disappointment. Anyway, there's this one thing that rattles me the whole day. But also excites me bigtime. I'm about to meet my boyfriend's mom tomorrow! I've been waiting for that day to happen for so long now, and now that it's finally gonna happen...I think I'm starting to feel restless about it. I mean, what if she doesn't like me?! I guess I'll just try to play it cool and simple. Oh my, oh my, oh my....
